Event Management & Large-Scale Events

More Than Event Staffing

Complete event planning, operations, staffing and closeout for events that need more than people on the ground.

Managing the Event as a Whole

279 Consulting does not look at an event as one department, one vendor, or simply a staffing assignment. We look at the event as a complete operation. That means understanding how the venue, municipality, public-safety requirements, permitting, vendors, staffing, food and beverage, transportation, infrastructure, guest flow, financial controls and liability affect one another.

Our focus is making the entire event work. We help clients build a workable operating plan, solve the logistical problems that can stall a project, and manage the business behind the guest experience before, during and after the event.

Custom Events. Major Productions. Real Operational Experience.

Our experience ranges from producing unique custom events for nonprofit organizations, including the ALS Foundation and BakerRipley, to working hand in hand with teams responsible for major events exceeding 50,000 attendees, including the Shell Houston Open and international soccer friendlies.

279 Consulting has also been a preferred company for all or portions of events put on by HLSR, the Houston Sports Authority, MLB, NFL, MLS, PGA and NBA organizations. A custom nonprofit event and a major public production have very different demands, but the same core discipline applies: someone has to understand how every moving part affects the operation as a whole.

Working With Municipalities and Stakeholders

Large, unusual and high-volume events regularly test the limits of what a venue, property or standard operating plan was designed to handle. Our experience working with municipalities, venues and event stakeholders helps us identify legitimate paths forward when the first answer may be “no.”

We know the right questions to ask, the departments that may need to be involved, the concerns that need to be addressed and how to build a plan that is safe, workable and defensible. We are not there to work around the rules. We are there to understand the rules, understand the objective and work with the people responsible for those rules to determine how far the event can legitimately go.

Logistics We Help Solve

Venue capacity and layout, streets and parking, traffic, temporary infrastructure, loading access, utilities, guest movement, food and beverage operations, alcohol controls, vendor access and large-scale staffing.

Operational Responsibilities

Permitting coordination, public safety and emergency-service coordination, financial controls, risk planning, vendor closeout, reconciliation, reporting and post-event operational review.

Staffing Is Part of the Plan, Not the Whole Plan

We provide event staffing, including managers, supervisors, food and beverage personnel, bartenders, guest-service teams, registration support, vendor support, setup and breakdown crews and operational staff. More importantly, we plan how those teams fit into the event’s operational, financial and liability picture.

Hire us for staffing, a specific operational responsibility, support for an existing team or management of the complete event operation.

From Concept Through Closeout

279 Consulting can step in while an event is still an idea, while it is being built or when it needs experienced oversight right before execution. We can help determine feasibility, develop the operating plan, coordinate vendors and staffing, manage food and beverage, oversee event-day operations, and remain involved after the event for reconciliation, reporting, liability issues and closeout.

Event services are tailored to the production. We offer planning and consulting, flat project management, on-site management, multi-day support and custom scope for larger productions.
